Postnatal care is a critical element of the maternity journey. In this vital role you will hold the responsibility for driving the daily operation of the ward including patient flow, safe staffing, and role-modelling clinical excellence on the ward. You will be a compassionate leader who champions evidence-based person-centred care.

You will empower and influence further developments in Midwifery and respond to National Maternity Transformation plans across the unit, acting as a liaison point and contributing to the continual development of maternity services. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with the IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in Cellular Pathology to join our friendly and supportive team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work across the full Cellular Pathology pathway, rotating through reception and dissection, the main laboratory, further work, molecular diagnostics and cytology. Working alongside Advanced Biomedical Scientists, Biomedical Scientists, associate practitioners, Biomedical support workers and supported by dedicated Quality and Training Managers, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of diagnostic specimens. We are looking for an organised, proactive and collaborative individual who can work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, lead by example, and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Applicants who are HCPC registered with relevant Cellular Pathology experience, and have commenced their IBMS Specialist Portfolio may also be considered.

The department operates Monday to Saturday between 7:30am and 7:30pm, incorporating standard and extended day shifts, with a minimum requirement to work 1 in 4 Saturdays.

The Cellular Pathology Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a forwardthinking, innovative and continually improving service. We were the first laboratory in the UK to digitally scan 100% of surgical slides and also introduced the UK’s first automated tissue sectioners. We are a regional Cellular Pathology Genomics Centre and a pilot site for the Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad, supported by dedicated Transformation and Pathology Technology & Innovation Leads.

You will support patients in a way that is impactful to their care. You will be the main point of contact for young adults for queries or concerns, or someone to talk to during the challenges of being a young person balanced with managing a chronic condition. Flexibility with your diary is essential when managing your time to fit around the differing needs of your caseload. You will have the support of the wider team to create MDT meetings regarding your caseload which requires good communication.

Care for your young adults will be a mixture of text/WA, telephone and face to face. You will need to ensure your young adults feel advocated for and supported in adhering with their care, as well as being encouraged to pursue their goals as a young person. This may mean communicating with families or carers of that young person to ensure you are aware of how best to support them. You may need to signpost to other services and so a good knowledge of the teams around you are essential.

Duties will involve delivery of Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient clinics based at Bradford Royal Infirmary and service development.

The Diabetic Antenatal service is currently undergoing a redesign in part due to the increased number of patients attending the service each year. A new post holder will be expected to contribute to this service development which will also include delivery of a specific Endocrine Antenatal clinic.

The postholder will work with colleagues in the Myeloid team to help provide and support this

large established service. Consultant staffing currently is Dr Manish Jain, Dr Chun Teh, Dr

(Red cell disorder). The service is also supported by number of other consultants (including Dr

Haematology services,

The appointee’s role will be to further develop and support the established specialist services in Leeds for myeloid and red cell disorders in haematology. The main clinical focus will be in myeloid (leukaemia); however, the postholder will also have significant duties within the MPD clinic and in the support of benign red cell haematology. This will include myeloid inpatient cover.

The appointee will be based principally at St James’s University Hospital with responsibilities as a member of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Clinical and The Laboratory Haematology Consultant team is providing an integrated pan-Leeds service. The post duties will include inpatient care, outpatient clinic work and a shared on-call commitment (approx. 1:11). The post-holder will be part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust haematology team, providing advisory and liaison haematology services in their area of expertise. There may be occasional need to visit other areas of the trust (e.g., Leeds General Infirmary and other sites within the city) but no regular commitments occur out with the St James’s site.

We provide inpatient high-dose chemotherapy for patient in Leeds, Harrogate, Huddersfield, and York (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia), including newer immunotherapies. We are also regional CAR-T service for eligible people with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

The post holder may support the national PNH service (this will be fully supported by the Leeds PNH team) or may have more involvement in general / non-malignant haematology services with a reduced involvement in the PNH service. The childrens physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital. What you will bring to the role

In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse take charge of the ward or department and co-ordinate ward or department activities.

The radiotherapy service in St James’s treats over 7500 new radiotherapy patients per annum. The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including 12 Versa HDs, MRSim, RayStation treatment planning, a Flexitron HDR remote afterloading platform for advanced image guided brachytherapy, I-125 prostate brachytherapy service and Gamma Knife ICON. The managed equipment service was recently renewed, ensuring equipment replacement and comprehensive support for the next 15 years.

You will need a degree in Clinical Technology or related discipline (or equivalent level of knowledge and experience) backed up by specific training in radiotherapy treatment planning (equivalent to a post-graduate diploma in level). BSc Therapy Radiography and specific training in radiotherapy treatment planning post qualification to the same level as above.

Be a registered Clinical Technologist or Registered Therapy Radiographer or a clearly defined path to Clinical Technologist registration.

You will need:

• Knowledge in the operation of 3D treatment planning systems.
• Knowledge of CT simulator output and patient set up.
• Understanding of current Mould Room working practices.
• Training and practical experience in quality systems such as ISO/9001:2008.
• It will be great if you have:
• Experience in the operation of complex radiotherapy technology including linear accelerators.
• Experience of working with CT simulators
• Experience of Mould Room output.
• Auditor training.
