University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Job Title: Trainee Advanced Practitioner - Cardiology
Contract Type:Permanent
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic clinician to join our established Cardiology Advanced Practitioner ward team.
Are you an experienced registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional, with a strong interest in Cardiology and a desire to develop as an Advanced Practitioner.
Working alongside Consultant Cardiologists, Advanced Practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities required to practise at an advanced level, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to patients with acute and complex cardiology presentations.
You will undertake a recognised MSc in Advanced Practice and develop the capabilities outlined within the NHS England Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Practice in England (2025) across the four pillars of advanced practice: Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education, and Research. Throughout your training, you will receive structured clinical and educational supervision from the Advanced Practice leadership team and designated medical supervisors.
On successful completion of the MSc advanced practice programme, demonstration of the required advanced practice capabilities, achievement of all specialty-specific competencies, and successful presentation of your portfolio through the Trust's Advanced Practice governance and expert review process, you will progress to a substantive Band 8a Advanced Practitioner role.
About us
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 Research Nurse within the Head and Neck Research Unit to support increasing study recruitment and delivery of complex injectable studies, whilst being a supportive keyworker for patients diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a world-leading cancer centre and contribute to the delivery of a growing portfolio of innovative clinical research studies.
Our research portfolio is increasingly focused on injectable and early-phase novel studies, which represent a unique and strategically important area of activity for the unit. These studies require intensive nursing input and clinical competencies that extend beyond standard research delivery. For example, the management of a single injectable trial participant often requires a research nurse's involvement for the entirety of a clinical day. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a nurse with an interest in early-phase Head & Neck oncology clinical trials to develop their specialist research clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will primarily work under the supervision of the Senior Research Nurses or Lead Research Nurse within the Head and Neck research team at Chelsea and has a key role to play in the day-to-day running of clinical trials within the Trust. These trials may be related to anti-cancer treatment (e.g. chemotherapy, radiotherapy, biological therapy, gene therapy or surgery), symptom management or some other aspect of cancer care, such as screening. Central to the role are the recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial. Working closely with the principal investigator and members of the multidisciplinary team, they will support patients who choose to participate in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients' advocate. An important aspect of the role is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.

b. Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.

About us
Department Information
The Department of Nephrology and Transplantation at Guy's is one of the largest in the UK, providing kidney care to South East London, neighbouring areas of Kent and the Channel Islands. In addition, we receive a significant number of complex referrals from a much wider geographical area. We provide a comprehensive range of services for this population, from management of mild kidney disease through to acute kidney injury (AKI) and the full range of modalities of renal replacement therapy. We perform around 300 transplants each year, have the largest living kidney donor programme in the country and are a supra-regional centre for both combined kidney/pancreas and pancreas alone transplantation. We have the country's largest antibody incompatible transplant programme. We performed the first robotic transplants in the UK and have world-class expertise in vascular access and transplant urology.
We offer a full range of peritoneal and haemodialysis therapies both at home and through a network of satellite units. We are nationally recognised for quality of care, innovation in clinical practice and service delivery, and for our close functional and geographical integration with the research programmes of both the MRC Transplantation Centre and the Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre.

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join Modality East Surrey Medical Practice and help shape the continuing development of specialist diabetes care within primary and community care.
We support approximately 45,000 to 46,000 patients across our sites in Horley, Smallfield and Townhill in Caterham. You will join an established multidisciplinary team and work closely with GPs, nurses, healthcare practitioners, clinical pharmacists, healthcare assistants, community services and Consultant Endocrinologists.
Our existing Diabetes Specialist Nurse is moving on to pursue a different venture, creating an opportunity for someone new to build on the strong foundations already established while bringing their own expertise and ideas to the service.
The role combines autonomous specialist practice with clinical leadership, education and service improvement. You will support adults with Type 1, Type 2 and complex diabetes, including patients requiring treatment intensification, insulin management, diabetes technology or coordinated multidisciplinary care.
Previous general-practice experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from experienced diabetes nurses working in community, integrated or secondary-care diabetes services. Appropriate induction, supervision and development will be provided to support a successful transition into primary care.
Main duties of the job
The Diabetes Specialist Nurse will manage an appropriate specialist caseload and provide expert assessment, treatment, care planning and follow-up for patients whose needs extend beyond routine long-term-condition review.
You will:
- Assess and manage adults with Type 1, Type 2 and complex diabetes within your professional competence and agreed clinical pathways.
- Develop clear, personalised and evidence-based management plans, with appropriate monitoring, follow-up, safety-netting and escalation.
- Initiate, optimise and monitor diabetes treatments within your competence and prescribing arrangements.
- Support insulin initiation, dose adjustment and complex insulin management.
- Review and support the appropriate use of contemporary diabetes treatments, including GLP-1-based therapies and SGLT-2 inhibitors.
- Interpret capillary glucose profiles, flash glucose monitoring and Continuous Glucose Monitoring data.
- Run or contribute to specialist clinics involving CGM, complex insulin management and diabetic-foot assessment.
- Support patients using insulin-pump therapy within demonstrated competence and agreed shared-care pathways.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, sick-day risks and potential diabetic emergencies.
