Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Receptionist to join our friendly well established practice team.
Must be a good team player, have excellent communication skills, well organised, highly motivated individual looking to join our friendly hard working practice team. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience within Primary Care and knowledge of SystmOne with the ability to work well under pressure and will provide a high-quality patient service.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a helpful and friendly service to patients looking to make appointments either in person or over the telephone in accordance with the practice appointment system. Assist patients with enquiries and support them in all aspects of their health care needs.
- Comply with the practice protocol for the printing of prescription requests and queries.
- Comply with the practice procedure for the registration of new patients.
- Advise patients of any action/advice requested by the GP.
- Follow practice procedure regarding letters and correspondence that arrives at the surgery from patients.
- Comply with all relevant practice procedures, regulations and protocols and to always maintain confidentiality with particular reference to patient records.
- To liaise with the Practice Manager when required and follow instructions from them when necessary and undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice.

Lister Medical Centre is based in Harlow, Essex.
We are a well-established, friendly teaching practice, and our dedicated team includes 9 GPs, 4 Emergency Care Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Nursing Associates, 2 Physician Associate, 4 HCAs and 17 admin/support staff. We have been providing a full range of GP services for over 30 years and have a patient list size of over 21,000 patients
As a teaching practice, we have Foundation Doctors and Students from Cambridge University based with us.
We are situated in a purpose-built health centre close to local amenities.

JOB PURPOSE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST

- Utilise number system to ensure efficiency of appointment system and monitor flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms.
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure registration procedures are completed on to computer.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
- Enter requests for home visits onto visit screen including all relevant information and where necessary refer to the Duty Doctor.
- In conjunction with the Repeat Prescriptions Clerk ensure that requests for prescriptions are actioned where possible within two working days.
- Action requests for ambulance transportation and enter details in appropriate book.
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
- Make tea and coffee for Partners as and when required.
- Ensure visitors sign the Visitors Book upon arrival and departure
- An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests.
- Assist the Sifting GP with Admin Support for total Triage
Management of Appointment Systems:
- Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systems in effect including regular and incidental variations.
- Book appointments and recalls ensuring sufficient information is recorded to retrieve medical record.
- Monitor effectiveness of the system and report any problems or variations required.
Preparation of Consulting Rooms:
- Ensure that the consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for each consulting session, checking the full range of forms and requirements and re-stocking as required (Allocated clinician)
- Ensure that the consulting rooms are checked at the end of each consulting session and left tidy and secure.
Operation of Telephone System:
- Receive and make calls as required. Divert calls and take messages as appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills.
Start and End of Day Procedures:
- Open premises at the start of day, set alarm to day function and make all necessary preparation to receive patients. Empty refrigerator of any specimens and put ready for collection by local hospital courier this procedure to be carried out at 8.30am and 1.00pm.
- Secure premises at end of day, ensure the building is totally secured, internal lights off (where appropriate) and alarm activated. Put any specimens into the refrigerator ready for the morning.
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for personal development and comply with mandatory and statutory training requirements
- To participate in the practice performance review and appraisal process
- To take appropriate action in relation to any feedback around care / performance in relation to improving practice / developmental needs.
- Take responsibility for own learning and identify development opportunities
- Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise workloads
- Apply practice policies, standards and guidance.
QUALITY
- The post holder will contribute to maintaining / improving patient care as appropriate

- On identification of any patient / non patient related incident escalate appropriately and complete relevant reporting tool.
Health & safety
The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice health & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual, and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
Awareness of standards of infection control and
Responsible for the correct and safe management of the specimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
Active observation of current working practices across the practice in relation to infection control, cleanliness and related activities, ensuring that procedures are followed and weaknesses / training needs are identified, escalating issues as appropriate
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean and sterile way, safe and free from hazards. Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed or escalation to responsible management
Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards / risks in relation to other work areas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (where appropriate) with other sector managers

Preparation of Consulting Rooms:
- Ensure that the consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for each consulting session, checking the full range of forms and requirements and re-stocking as required (Allocated clinician)

Operation of Telephone System:

Main duties of the job

This is a full time and permanent position.
The emphasis of the role will be to complete highly specialist diagnostic assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder across the whole trust (covering Bromley, Bexley & Greenwich) for adults without learning disability.

Job summary
The integrated care pathway for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) provides a spirometry service across the community and within the chest clinic at the hospital.
The lung function department is part of the chest clinic and is an integral part of supporting diagnosis through a variety of lung function tests.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out routine lung function investigations to a high standard and in a professional manner whilst working within departmental guidelines, both at Lewisham Hospital and also in the community setting. They will be required to lead on spirometry training, offering support and guidance to practitioners across a variety of healthcare settings and taking an active role in the continuing professional development of their colleagues.
They will be a clinically credible practitioner who can provide effective patient care in a range of clinical settings, having regard for relevant policies. Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for competent individuals to join a team of Clinical Support Workers in the busy environment of Cardiology. The unit is responsible for the safe assessment and admission of patients, and ensuring excellent care is provided at all times.

Job summary
An exciting new opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals of Birmingham for a highly specialist physiotherapist to join our supportive and innovative team. The postholder will be responsible for managing their own caseload of patients within our complex breathlessness multidisciplinary service, working alongside our two existing highly experienced band 7 physiotherapists.
It is an opportunity to work within a supportive and specialist MDT in a service that is expanding and developing in order to address a previously unmet need within the BSOL area. The post involves advanced assessment and treatment of patients with complex breathlessness including those with suspected or confirmed breathing pattern disorder. Patients referred to this service often have a highly complex presentation and may have associated factors such as inducible laryngeal obstruction, excessive dynamic airway collapse or asthma. Physiotherapy is an integral part of this service and alongside the MDT you will ensure that patients receive a comprehensive and holistic assessment and treatment plan.
You will need experience working as a qualified band 6 or band 7 physiotherapist in an acute hospital setting, with experience of managing multiple respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchiectasis, breathing pattern disorder.
Main duties of the job
You should be able to work as a highly specialist, autonomous practitioner with a clear passion in assessing and managing complex breathlessness within an outpatient respiratory setting. Alongside this you will be involved in providing specialist level training to the wider MDT when required and may also be asked to attend the regional complex breathlessness network meetings networking with physiotherapists working in similar roles across the country. Evidence of strong organisational, communication and leadership skills are essential to compliment your advanced physiotherapy knowledge and skills. You should be passionate about providing effective patient centred care, as well as being highly enthusiastic about service development of respiratory services
You will have the opportunity to work alongside other highly specialist staff such as speech and language therapists, psychologists and Consultants with a specialist interest in this field. There are opportunities to be involved in data collection and research within this area and to attend relevant national meetings and conferences.
The clinics run in both hospital and community centres and you may be expected to work at more than one site across the week with advanced notice.
Applicants must be prepared to participate in the Physiotherapy Out of Hours On-Call rota and 7 day working within the respiratory teams.

The opportunity has arisen to lead the community based Acute care at home team for the North and East locality of Cornwall. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of senior nurses providing support and treatment to people in their own homes. The Acute care at home team deliver treatments which include the administration of IV medications and the monitoring of people during an acute episode of illness to enable patients to recover at home safely. The team will support early discharge from the acute settings, whilst also providing care to prevent a hospital admission where possible. Job summary
We are looking for a caring and motivated Genomic Practitioner, an exciting and newly established Healthcare Science Practitioner role within the Genomic Counselling work stream. The Genomic Practitioner will take a lead in running whole genome sequencing (WGS) consent clinics, counselling patients and families specifically about taking part in WGS and obtaining blood samples.
Main duties of the job
Working within the Clinical Genetics department, the role will involve communicating with patients and their families directly by phone, video call and face to face. It will include obtaining appropriate samples for genetic testing and recording consent.
The Genomic Practitioner will also help to facilitate access to the service, particularly amongst marginalised communities and families who are difficult to engage. Other roles include facilitating patient support days and patient engagement events. The role also includes co-ordinating multidisciplinary meetings and occasional education events for professionals. The role will also include providing education sessions to allied mainstream clinicians around consent and genomic testing, helping to upskill the mainstream workforce in genomics.

Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in our integrated paediatric Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team. This is a fixed term post of 9 months to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
The post is for clinical assessment and intervention for children with neuro developmental and motor skills difficulties. You will have the opportunity to work with children aged 0 - 19 years in a variety of settings, including; the Child Development Centre with some community visits to schools and nurseries. Travel will be required across UHD sites to deliver services.
It would be an advantage to have experience in sensory integration and neuro developmental therapy techniques and of working with children.
We work closely with the multi-disciplinary paediatric team and colleagues working in social care, health and education services. We are committed to delivering high quality services for the children and families we work with.
Applicants must have access to a car for business use.
