Job summary
Band 2 Administrator for HUB11
Castle Hill/Hull Royal InfirmaryPart Time
Have you ever thought about working for the NHS?
Behind every appointment, every clinic, every patient seen - there is someone who made it happen.
Our Administrators are the unseen heroes of patient care. They support teams, coordinate workloads, and ensure clinics and departments run safely and efficiently. They are trusted, reliable and central to the smooth delivery of care.
Working within fast-paced and supportive teams, you will take on additional responsibility, helping to oversee processes, support colleagues and ensure patients receive the best possible experience.
The reassuring voice on the phone. The calm presence supporting patients in what can often be their most worrying moments. Without them, patients don't get seen. Services don't run. Care doesn't flow.
You don't need previous NHS experience - we can teach you the systems. What we can't teach is compassion, professionalism and the ability to care about getting things right for patients. That's what we're looking for.
Main duties of the job
What you'll bring:
- A caring and compassionate approach
- Confidence communicating with patients and the public
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Basic IT skills (typing, email, data entry, use of computer systems)
- The ability to work as part of a close-knit team
- Calmness in a sometimes fast-paced environment
What you'll gain:
- The chance to make a real difference every single day
- Full and part-time opportunities with flexible working options
- One of the best pension schemes available
- Generous annual leave entitlement - because you work hard and deserve proper time off
- Structured training and ongoing support
- Genuine career progression - many of our senior leaders began in administrative roles
Patient care is at the heart of everything we do, and our administrative teams are central to making that care possible. If you are organised, compassionate, and want a role where your work truly matters, we would love to hear from you.
About us
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.

Virtual Support Team Call Handler
Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board View all jobs
Posted 2 day(s) ago
Reference: 2383254
Job summary
3 x Fixed Term 12 months
1 x Maternity cover until July 27
We're looking for hard-working, compassionate and resilient Call Agents to join our friendly Virtual Support Team. This role involves speaking with patients on behalf of NHS programmes, providing information and helping them access services that support their health and wellbeing.
We are looking for
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Confidence speaking with a wide range of people.
- Resilience and professionalism when handling challenging conversations.
- A caring, patient-focused approach.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- Previous experience in a customer service, call handling, patient engagement, contact centre, or administrative role is essential.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a team environment.
Please note that this is a telephone-based role and requires significant outbound calling activity throughout the day. Due to the nature of the work and the confidential information discussed, successful candidates working from home must have access to a private, quiet and secure workspace where conversations cannot be overheard, ensuring patient confidentiality and information security are maintained at all times.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives whilst working within a supportive and inclusive team. You'll gain valuable experience supporting a variety of NHS programmes and helping patients access the care and services.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake a minimum of 100 outbound telephone calls to patients on behalf of GP practices, NHS organisations, and commissioned service providers.
- Provide clear, accurate, and professional information about NHS programmes and services.
- Complete simple, non-clinical questionnaires and accurately record patient responses.
- Support patients to understand available services and access appropriate healthcare pathways.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with patients, adapting communication styles to meet individual needs.
- Undertake follow-up calls where required as part of agreed programme pathways.
- Achieve a minimum target of 100 outbound call attempts per working day, while maintaining quality, accuracy and customer service standards.
- Ensure all calls are handled courteously, professionally, and in accordance with approved scripts and procedures.
About us
We manage an annual budget of £4.9 billion to commission safe, high quality and accessible health services for 1.7million people living in Norfolk and Suffolk.
We work with hospitals, GP practices, dentists, pharmacies, community, mental health and ambulance services, alongside local councils and voluntary organisations, to improve care. We involve local communities in shaping decisions and use their insights to improve services. As a statutory NHS organisation, we are accountable to NHS England and the UK Government.
Our role is to ensure services meet current and future needs by setting local NHS strategy, allocating funding, maintaining quality and safety standards, improving access, reducing health inequalities and enabling joined up care.
Norfolk and Suffolk include rural, coastal and deprived communities, with an older than average population. Around half of residents live in rural or coastal areas, where access can be harder, and about 219,000 people live in the most deprived areas, where early deaths are significantly higher. These factors shape our planning and focus on reducing inequalities.
Our vision is for people to live longer, healthier lives with access to safe, joined up, patient centred care. We prioritise improving healthy life expectancy, reducing inequalities and ensuring consistent access to high quality services.
We work across five local Places and partner with NHS providers, councils, the VCFSE sector and communities to deliver locally responsive care.

We support adults who present with a variety of experiences, needs and diagnoses, working dynamically to collaboratively support their holistic wellbeing beyond 'just' a diagnosis. The Acute Inpatient Service is a progressive advocate of reducing stigma regarding mental ill health and actively works alongside partner agencies and carers to achieve individualised recovery goals.
The Acute Inpatient Service can be a challenging environment due to the fast pace and variation in the presentations of the individuals whom we support. The Acute Inpatient Service collaboratively and compassionately supports individuals in their experience of crisis. LYPFT are invested in reducing the use of restrictive interventions, especially within inpatient services. We provide care for individuals who receive treatment under the Mental Health Act and those who are admitted informally. Teams have enthusiastically worked to embed the Safewards model into everyday culture and practice and are actively working on the implementation of further initiatives to improve the experience of services users.
