We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Clinical Pathway Navigator to join our Hepatology service at the Royal Free Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will support patients through their hospital care journey, providing the patient with a single named point of contact who will coordinate their care. Work as part of a team within a dedicated speciality/patient group to ensure that all administrative functions for patients from the time of GP referral to the time of discharge are coordinated in line with specific care pathway instructions to facilitate the smooth running of the patients' journey. Where a patient has multiple specialist needs, assist the patient in coordinating their pathways to reduce multiple appointments across the Trust.

This is an important role helping to ensure medical equipment and surgical instruments are cleaned, disinfected and sterilised to the highest standards, supporting safe patient care across the hospital.

What the role involves:
You will be required to use keyboards, touch screens and scanners.
- Cleaning and decontaminating medical equipment and surgical instruments
- Inspecting instruments with a high level of attention to detail
- Working in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Following strict infection prevention and safety procedures
- Standing for long periods, bending and lifting throughout shifts
- Working flexibly across a variety of shift patterns
- Initially there will be 3 weeks of induction training during day time shifts, you will then complete all other training on the allocated shift patterns

Job Purpose
To provide a high-quality decontamination and sterilisation service for reusable medical devices, flexible endoscopes, surgical instruments, and associated equipment in accordance with Trust policies, ISO standards, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), infection prevention standards, and Health & Safety regulations.
The post holder will support the safe and effective delivery of patient care by ensuring medical devices are cleaned, disinfected, inspected, assembled, sterilised, tracked, and distributed to required standards and within agreed service levels.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties

To carry out portable appliance testing as necessary throughout the hospice premises, ensuring detailed records are kept.
Various porter duties may be required, included but not limited to hospital runs and furniture collections.
To ensure sufficient supplies of all medical gases are kept in stock, carrying out daily usage checks and changing cylinders when necessary.
Work with the Property Services Manager in ordering and/or collecting supplies as and when necessary.
Adhering to the site planned preventive maintenance schedule working with the Property Services Manager to ensure it is up to date and that all hospice premises are compliant.
Participate in security checks and also the unlocking of the Hospice building on a daily basis.

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Newborn Screening Team within the Chemical Pathology Department at GOSH. You will join the team of Scientists at one of the largest paediatric clinical biochemistry departments in the UK.
The Chemical Pathology Department at GOSH is part of the Paediatric Laboratory Medicine, and has strong clinical ties with the Metabolic, Endocrine, Neurology, Gastro-enterology, Transplant and other Clinical Teams. The department hosts the UKs largest Newborn screening service, screening approximately over 120,000 newborns per year. We also provide a comprehensive diagnostic, treatment, and management service to children with a wide range of different conditions includingrare inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs). The laboratory conducts Saturday result review for IMD conditions and you are expected to participate in this activity.
The Laboratory also has strong links with the Neurometabolic Unit at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and with the GOSH Institute of Child Health and is involved in a variety of research projects in the UK and overseas.
Main duties of the job
Ideally applicants should already be HCPC state registered as a Biomedical Scientist and have worked in an accredited Chemical Pathology or Molecular Pathology Laboratory. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Aseptic Services team as a Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician. The Christie NHS Trust's Aseptic Services Unit is a world leader in phase one clinical trial material production, supporting hundreds of Clinical Trials, Early Access Medicines, Free of Charge products and Compassionate Use schemes.
We seek a motivated individual with strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills. You will join a dynamic team producing injectable medicines for cancer patients, taking part in and supervising aseptic production in cleanrooms with five negative-pressure isolators. You will also support Highly Specialist Technicians with daily operations, staff management, stock control and Quality Assurance.
For this role you will be required to have either:
NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
Or
Aseptic Pharmaceutical Science Manufacturing Technician level 3 and registration with the Science Council as a Science Technician
We welcome applications from pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians or Science Manufacturing Technicians approaching qualification, as well as newly registered technicians. This is a Band 4-5 progression post, continuing until all required competencies and qualifications are achieved
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be part of dynamic and fast paced team. Their role will be to assist the Education and Training Lead - Aseptic Services in the provision of high quality initial and re-validation training, as well as supporting the Highly Specialised Aseptic Technicians in managing the aseptic preparation services of the pharmacy department under the professional direction of the Aseptic Services Manager.
This will be achieved by:
- Supervision and management of technical staff, including HR duties (e.g. PDRs)
- Organising the safe and efficient production of aseptically prepared products
- Delivering full training to production staff taking part in GMP activities, ensuring proficient and safe working within an Aseptic Services Unit
- Supporting co-ordination of operator validations and competency checks
- Co-ordinating workflow and workforce, ensuring a safe, efficient and effective service to the trust and patients
- Revision of Standard Operating Procedures and implementation of new or revised procedures
- Managing cost effective use of consumables and sanitisation products used within the aseptic facility

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join the flow cytometry team at the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (HMDS), St James Hospital, Leeds with a focus on haemato-oncology molecular work. This is an opportunity to become part of a highly successful department with extensive facilities and high levels of scientific expertise. This is a great opportunity for someone with a haematology/immunology background to gain specialised experience in an exciting field. The flow cytometry team contribute directly to diagnosing leukaemias and other malignancies and the role offers significant learning opportunities. The post holders will work alongside laboratory based Biomedical Scientists, other advanced Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists and Consultant Haematologist/Haematopathologists to maintain and develop the service.
Main duties of the job
HMDS provides a specialist service for the diagnosis of leukaemia and lymphoma for a number of patients in North, West and East Yorkshire together with patients from outside the region and those enrolled on national clinical trials. The laboratory is UKAS ISO 15189:2012 accredited and is one of the largest of its type in the United Kingdom with a high throughput of specimens including lymph nodes, bone marrow trephine biopsies and tissue biopsies together with peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirates. These specimens are investigated by a wide range of techniques, including flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, fluorescent in situ hybridisation and molecular biology. The laboratory is also very active in research and delivers central laboratory services for many national and international clinical trials. This post provides the opportunity to join this successful team at the forefront of diagnostic services.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of routine and more complex investigations some of which may be under the supervision of more experienced biomedical scientists. What you will bring to the role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of a high-quality diagnostic service. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of routine and more complex investigations some of which may be under the supervision of more experienced biomedical scientists. Within the team you may be required to organise the tasks of support workers. You will be required to communicate information, often related to patient management and care, to colleagues, healthcare staff and other organizations.
Applicants should have an IBMS accredited Bsc (Hons) in biomedical sciences or equivalent and be state registered or very close to completing a registration portfolio. Previous experience in a flow cytometry laboratory and/or experience of laboratory haematology will be advantageous.

We are recruiting Sterile Services / Decontamination Technicians to join our Central Decontamination Unit. You will be responsible for the decontamination and preparation of reusable medical devices used across operating theatres, wards, clinics, and community services. The role includes regular moving and handling duties, such as transferring instrument trays, loading and unloading equipment, and moving trolleys as part of the decontamination process. Full moving and handling training will be provided.
We have opportunities available for the following shifts: 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00. These roles require rotational weekend working (one weekend every six weeks) and some Bank Holiday shifts (approximately half of the year, depending on allocation). No previous decontamination experience is required, as full training will be provided. You will be supported to complete competency-based assessments and recognised decontamination training.
You will be recruited at Band 2 if you have not yet completed CUH Competencies. Upon the successful completion of all required training and competencies you will move up to Band 3.
Main duties of the job
Undertake the decontamination of reusable medical devices, including cleaning, inspection, assembly, packing, and sterilisation.
Carry out regular moving and handling tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and transferring trays, containers, and trolleys in accordance with training and risk assessments.
Operate decontamination equipment such as washer disinfectors sterilisers and Endoscopy Washer Disinfectors in line with Standard Operating procedures.
Maintain accurate records using electronic tracking and traceability systems.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure service demands are met.
Provide a high standard of service delivery, promoting good team work including the organisation of production activity between fellow Technicians within sections of the department to ensure that the needs of user departments are met.

12-Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity cover)
This role is an opportunity for an experienced, well-motivated Biomedical Scientist with Health and Care Professionals Council registration to join the Great Western Hospitals Chemical Pathology section within Blood Sciences department.
The post holder will join a team of dedicated professionals working to deliver high quality test results and excellent care to patients across Swindon and the surrounding area. The Great Western Hospitals Blood Science department handles over 6 million test requests per year and offers a large repertoire of tests for our patients.
The post holder will be expected to work at a competence level equivalentto the Institute of Biomedical Scientists Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Chemistry and contribute to the effective running of the Chemical Pathology department by performing equipment maintenance, quality controls and troubleshooting procedures. The laboratory operates a quality management system (QMS) which all staff members engage with to ensure all processes are followed according to SOPs and documented according to the departmental policies.

Main duties of the job
The Chemical Pathology department performs analysis of a variety of clinical biochemistry tests through the automated equipment. This is currently provided by Beckman-Coulter and consists of two sets of DxI 800 analysers linked to DxC AU 700 analysers via a Powerlink and a single stand alone DxC AU 700. The department also provides services for xanthochromia, drugs of abuse analysis and HbA1c in a dedicated area of the lab.
Senior Biomedical Scientists support this role and other BMS roles in the department.
There is a requirement for out of hours shift cover, including lates, nights and weekend shifts. This is distributed to all staff via a rota.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months. We are looking for a talented and dynamic individual to join the genomics team within the central laboratory of the Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub. The role will be based within the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (HMDS) in Leeds, with a focus on haemato-oncology molecular work. This is an opportunity to become part of a highly successful department with extensive facilities and high levels of scientific expertise. The post holder will work other scientists, both within HMDS and across the central laboratory at Leeds.
Main duties of the job
HMDS provides a specialist service for the diagnosis of blood cancers and is part of the central laboratory for the Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub. The laboratory is the largest of its type in the United Kingdom with a high throughput of specimens including peripheral blood, bone marrow and tissue biopsies. The department also has a strong research programme and there will also be opportunity to be involved in development projects related to research and clinical trials.

This role is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-motivated Biomedical Scientist with Health and Care Professionals Council registration to join the Great Western Hospitals Chemical Pathology section within Blood Sciences department as a Biomedical Scientist.
The post holder will join a team of dedicated professionals working to deliver high quality test results and excellent care to patients across Swindon and the surrounding area. The Great Western Hospitals Blood Science department handles over 6 million test requests per year and offers a large repertoire of tests for our patients.

The department also provides services for xanthochromia, drugs of abuse analysis and HbA1c in a dedicated area of the lab.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a desire to progress. We are looking for a keen and driven university graduate who holds an IBMS specialist portfolio.
The post holder will be based in Cellular Pathology Department at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and will be expected to work across sites. This is a full-time vacancy of 37.5 hours between Monday-Friday and weekend shifts by rotation.
It is essential you have a BSc (Hons) degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent. You must be able to demonstrate an active knowledge of and experience in a routine Histology Laboratory.
Cellular Pathology houses several sub-specialities including histopathology, cytopathology, electron microscopy, a muscle biopsy service, a specialist Bone and Soft tissue Tumour service, Andrology service, as well as a postmortem suite, and mortuary. The laboratory receives and processes a wide range of tissue samples including approximately ninety thousand histological specimens and 7000 non-gynae cytology fluid-based samples per year.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work across the full range of services provided by the Histology Department, including dissection/loading, embedding, microtomy, Special stains, and IHC.
As a Specialist biomedical scientist the post holder will be following standard operating procedures, and support the implementation of improved or best practice. All work will be in keeping with the laboratory quality management system. This will include the effective use of laboratory procedural and other records, maintenance of assets/analysers, and supporting with the resolution of corrective and preventative actions.
The Cellular Pathology Department is undergoing a busy period of development, with upgrades to IT systems, the introduction of Digital Pathology, and a desire to develop the workforce into a range of laboratory, line management, and advanced practice roles.

Job summary
We are looking for highly motivated HCPC-registered Band 6 Biomedical Scientists to join the Specialist Services Team within the Laboratory Medicine Service at Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The Laboratory Medicine Team seeks to modernise our service by embracing new ways of working, committing to developing our knowledge and skills and actively seeking to develop a professional multidisciplinary team across the Service that provides a 24/7 365, year-round service for our patients.
In this role, you will be part of a rotational team that provides the specialised laboratory services using specialist analytical techniques such as flow cytometry, protein electrophoresis, spectrometry, immunofluorescence, mass spectrometry and specialist coagulation techniques. As part of future planning, this role will include out-of-hours working within Specialist Sections.
The Specialist laboratories are well equipped with equipment from suppliers such as Sebia, Werfen, Sysmex, BD, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Aesku and The Binding Site.
Ideally the post holder will have existing knowledge and skills in specialist analytical techniques such as those listed above, however we welcome applications from candidates who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills specialist analytical techniques.
Salary: Initially Annex 21 Band 6 - 70%, progressing to 75% after year 2.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Specialist BMS you will provide a comprehensive Laboratory Medicine service to aid the effective screening, diagnosis, monitoring of patients. You will deputise for senior staff and assist in the training and supervision of junior members of the team.
The Laboratory Medicine Service is a 24/7/365 operation and a flexible approach to working hours is required. Once competency has been achieved you will be expected to participate in the out of hours rota and expected to work at any of the networked laboratory sites as required.
Candidates will be expected to have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or have significant years of experience as a Band 6 - this is a requisite for employment at Band 6 Biomedical Scientist AfC grade.
If you have completed your IBMS Specialist Portfolio and are awaiting assessment please clearly indicate this in your application.
Consideration will be given to candidates who are already working towards completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio and will initially be paid on the Band 6 Biomedical Scientist AfC scale as per our Annex 21 framework. Trainee Specialist BMS - Applicants who do not hold the full qualifications will be considered for a trainee position and will be subject to Annex 21 of Band 6. Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established decontamination team in Endoscopy. This role requires a dynamic team player who can work on own initiative and works well in a team environment. A comprehensive training package will be provided and you will be fully supported. Main duties of the job
The decontamination technician role is to provide a service to endoscopy, urology and theatres by providing endoscopes when required. You will be expected to provide the services with decontaminated scopes for the lists, collect the contaminated scopes and decontaminate them in the decontamination facility. You would then either return them to the services or store them in the cabinets provided until next required. You will ensure the decontamination facility is clean, tidy, deal with stock and storage, send and receive scopes for or from repair, use a track and traceability system and any other maintenance issues in the decontamination facility. Part of your job role will be to provide scopes for out of hours procedures so you will be expected to be part of the on call rota.

Job Summary:Band 7 Chief Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience in performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) to join our expanding service and develop their knowledge and skills.
To be successful in this post you must be capable of providing an excellent level of clinical competence and knowledge in echocardiography and be a team player. The post holder should also be a positive role model and possess good communication, organisational and assertiveness skills.
Applicants should have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and at least 2 years postgraduate experience in performing and reporting TTE independently, together with British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) Level 2 Adult TTE Accreditation (or equivalent). Main duties of the job
Following the recent successful bid to develop a cardio-respiratory Community Diagnostic Hub on the Kingston Hospital site, we are looking to recruit additional echocardiographers to support the expansion of the local service. This comes on a background of recent significant investment in the echocardiography department at Kingston hospital, including the purchase of several GE E95/S70 machines and a new echocardiography reporting platform, and appointment of a clinical lead Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in echocardiography to support development of an advanced echocardiography service, which now includes contrast/bubble, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography.
The echocardiography department at Kingston Hospital provides a routine outpatient and inpatient TTE service, with additional specialised services as above. We have a weekly review and teaching meeting attended by consultants, registrars, cardiac physiologists and junior staff. All physiologists are encouraged to attend relevant courses/meetings as continued professional development is important to our team and post-graduate exams are actively encouraged. Our department has a strong emphasis on teaching/training of echocardiographers, specialist registrars and newly qualified junior members of staff. The successful candidate would show an ongoing commitment to training in the department.

The Pharmacy Aseptic Service at Great Western Hospital is expanding with the build of a new onsite aseptic unit for the preparation of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy and we're looking to grow our team.

Job summary
We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to work in our friendly, well-equipped Cellular Pathology department, which processes approximately 35,000 samples per year. Our work contributes to the initial detection and diagnosis of cancer and other diseases for patients attending Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and in the wider local community. The central histology laboratory service is situated on the Royal Hampshire Hospital site in Winchester with a small satellite team based at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital.
This a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours per week
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the satellite team at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital (Basingstoke ) on a permanent basis, with occasional rotation to Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester), under the supervision of Biomedical Scientists, an MLA Team Leader, and clinical staff.
This role involve performing a range of tasks that contribute to the diagnostic service, including sample handling, preparation and tracking, consultant support during specimen dissection, patient data entry and maintaining equipment.

Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Senior Biomedical Scientist to lead our Diagnostic Cytopathology section at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Working closely with the Consultant Biomedical Scientist and wider Cellular Pathology team, you will provide expert scientific and operational leadership for a high-quality, patient-focused service. The role includes day-to-day supervision of the section, specialist assessment and processing of diagnostic cytology specimens, and delivery of Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) and telecytology services across complex anatomical sites. You will apply advanced professional judgement to specimen adequacy and triage, support appropriate ancillary testing, and communicate effectively with clinical teams to enable timely diagnosis and treatment.
As a key member of the laboratory management team, you will organise workload and resources, supervise and develop staff, oversee training and competency assessment, and promote a strong culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement. You will contribute to UKAS accreditation and ISO 15189 compliance, audit, incident management, service development and the introduction of new techniques. This is an excellent opportunity for an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with substantial diagnostic cytopathology and ROSE experience to take a leading role in a progressive service and make a direct contribution to excellent patient care.
Main duties of the job
Provide expert ROSE and telecytology, including EBUS, EUS and head and neck procedures; assess adequacy, advise clinicians and direct material for ancillary testing.
Lead the day-to-day Diagnostic Cytopathology service, applying advanced scientific judgement to specimen assessment, preparation and processing.
Supervise, train and support biomedical scientists, trainees and laboratory support staff, including competency assessment, appraisals, rotas and workforce planning.
Ensure accurate, timely results and escalate unexpected findings, risks or delays appropriately.
Work collaboratively with the Consultant Biomedical Scientist, histopathologists, clinical teams and Cellular Pathology management, deputising for senior colleagues when required.
