Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks in a busy medical environment. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively. The post is for 12 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Schedule appointments and maintain an organised calendar for healthcare providers.
- Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls as necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with data protection regulations.
- Process patient forms and documentation, verifying insurance information when applicable.
- Assist with billing inquiries and coordinate with insurance companies as needed.
- Support the medical team with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an administrative or office role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using office software and medical management systems.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Reception
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, carers and visitors of the practice
- Using Active signposting, process appointment requests for urgent/routine/home visit appointments from patients by telephone and in person and be able to identify red flag symptoms and act in accordance with practice protocol in this regard
- Convey messages to clinicians and other staff members accurately and timely
- Accept requests for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice protocol; check the fax and prescription box for repeat prescription requests and provide completed prescriptions to patients
- Deal with enquiries from patients and carers
- Handle completed private fee work in accordance with protocol and ensure relevant fee is applied (cash handling)
- Liaising with patients regarding correspondence received
- Preparing clinics for practice nurses
- Preparing and managing the diaries/clinics for baby clinic, 24 hour BP monitor and minor surgery
- Accept new patient registrations and relevant documentation, and be able to advise patients of practice area
- Handle samples in accordance with practice protocol
- Ensure building security start and end of day procedures
- Provide refreshments for doctors
- Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- To work in accordance with written protocols including confidentiality and data handling

Our multidisciplinary teams work collaboratively to improve patient outcomes and deliver high-quality primary care services across the network.The PCN brings together a multidisciplinary workforce, including Pharmacy, Frailty, Social Prescribing, Health Optimisation, Home Visiting, Mental Health and Engagement teams. These teams include pharmacists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, social prescribers, care coordinators and engagement staff.

Your role as a Health Technician (HT) within the CIS Urgent Community Response Team will involve providing a rapid response care service for people who need urgent help with primary acute physical health illness in their own homes, or after a hospital admission. An exciting, temp opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 4 Support Time and Recovery Worker to work in partnership in Primary Care as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). The post sits within the Meir Primary Care Network MDT working alongside the Senior Mental Health Practitioner and GP surgery teams.
You will be responsible for providing mental health specialist care to patients within the PCN, whilst working as part of the network's multidisciplinary team.
Meir Primary Care Network brings together six GP practices that work closely to support people across our community. We focus on practical, joined-up care and good access to the right help at the right time. Our teams include clinicians and a wide range of additional roles who work across practices every day. People know each other, support each other, and share a commitment to making care easier for patients.
As a Support Time Recovery Worker within Meir PCN, you will be part of a small, approachable team that values steady, patient-focused work. You will help people build confidence, stay connected with local services, and make progress with their personal goals. You will have regular contact with GPs, care co-ordinators, social prescribers and your ARRS mental health colleagues who are ready to guide and support you.

This is a 6-month Locum post pending substantive recruitment based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) including an on-call commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota. The successful applicant will work closely with the existing 12 Gastroenterologists and 4 Hepatologists to provide a high standard Gastroenterology service to the Trust. This post is based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage; however, clinics can be at any of three sites, Lister Hospital, the New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City or Hertford County Hospital, Hertford.We enjoy a reputation for our commitment to the highest standards of care, but also for our friendly and supportive approach.We have a high quality endoscopic service. There is a 4 roomed state of the art endoscopy unit at the Lister Hospital site and a two roomed endoscopy unit within the New QEII Hospital at Welwyn Garden City. Both units are JAG accredited and are fully kitted with state-of-the-art equipment. The National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme was implemented in 2008. There is endoscopic sub-specialisation with ERCP, video capsule endoscopy and upper GI cancer services including provision of a regional GI Laser service based at the Lister Hospital. We have recently implemented an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) service. We have a leading upper GI service and are one of the largest cytosponge services in the UK.

The department also leads its own commercially funded studies, such as COSIE, investigating the use of Cytosponge in the diagnosis and management of eosinophilic oesophagitis, and IBD Movement, an observational study examining activity levels and fatigue in patients with IBD in remission. Strong academic links exist with the University of Hertfordshire, where two consultants hold honorary positions. The department has also secured significant funding from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation for the multi-site VECTOR trial, exploring the role of vibrational exercise in Crohn's disease. Research consultants regularly present at national and international meetings, supported by a dedicated Research Fellow. Registrars are actively encouraged to engage in research, with many serving as Associate Principal Investigators.
The department has recently achieved Level II Hepatology Training Accreditation, becoming only the third trust in the region to receive this status. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, focused and enthusiastic HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cytology to join the team at our Cellular Pathology laboratory. We are seeking a HCPC registered BMS with a BSc in biomedical sciences or equivalent and a successfully completed IBMS specialist portfolio in histopathology, non-gynae cytology. One full-time permanent position is available (see details below), based at William Harvey Hospital (WHH) in Ashford.
Join us to help shape future strategy and services for our local population. Our services offer a range of diagnostic tests, processing over 55,000 requests per annum, and employing over 80 staff. The department has a strong training ethos linked to career development and progression.
This role is for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cytology. Applications will be accepted from Biomedical Scientists with their HCPC registration andif there are insufficient applicants for specialist level, traineeBiomedical Scientists who are at least 50% complete through their portfolio will be considered (pay and AFC band will be according to experience).
Main duties of the job
As a specialist biomedical scientist the post holder will be following standard operating procedures, making and implementing recommendations and changes to support improved or best practice. All changes will be in keeping with the laboratory quality management system. This will include the effective management of laboratory procedural and other records, staffing resources and competency records, maintenance of assets/analysers, resolution of corrective and preventative actions.
The post holder will be required to undertake their responsibilities across any of the sections within the discipline across non-gynae cytology and andrology, including infertility & post vasectomy reporting and authorisation. The post holder will also be required to attend ROSE clinics at other sites. Additional duties may be to support or deputise for either the quality, training, health & safety leads.
We are a UKAS accredited medical laboratory against ISO 15189:2022, that holds an HTA Licence and are an IBMS training laboratory.
The post holder will be expected to complete the IBMS Specialist Diploma in the relevant field in order to progress to band 6; once a minimum of 12 months has passed, and at least 50% of the portfolio is complete. This requires the post holder to have current membership with the IBMS which is not funded by the Trust.See Supporting documentation for band 5 to 6 progression.

Main duties of the job

The Night Nurse will be based in the healthcare department and will be assisting with emergency response and being part of the Primary Care Team.Please keep in mind as a night nurse there will be a requirement to do a day shift on rotation for ongoing professional development and support every 3 - 6 months.
As part of your induction the first 4 weeks will be days and once this is completed you will then go on to your permeant night rota. Hours:- Monday - Sunday - 37.5 hours per week
- 8.15pm - 7.45am - Nights Only
- 7 nights on - 7 nights on
Salary:
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Primary Care Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
- Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
- Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
- Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams.
