An MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is essential, however we welcome applications from newly qualified, almost qualified and experienced ACP's who have a real passion in admission avoidance.
SDEC boasts a diverse team of ACP's who are supported by medical and nursing staff. Autonomously assessing, investigating and managing same day emergency medical patients will be your primary role; also, you will in-reach into the Emergency Department (ED) as well as supporting referrals from GP's and NWAS. The ACP team together with the consultant Clinical Lead, the nursing team and clerical staff are committed to the ongoing success of SDEC through innovative pathway development and collaborative working, both in secondary and primary care. Essentially, we strive to ensure the right person receives access to the right care at the right time, by the right person.
Patient experience of SDEC is of fundamental importance to our reputation and growth and we work hard to exceed patient expectations; you will possess highly developed interpersonal skills and be an authentic and values based individual.
Main duties of the job
Your clinical caseload will be diverse and case management should be underpinned by a dedicated approach to patient-centred care and collaborative working alongside our multi-disciplinary teams, to ensure a tailored management plan is put in place which addresses both current issues and proactively looks to prevent potential issues which may arise. They will contribute to the development and review of psychiatry referral pathways, multidisciplinary working, clinical governance, audit, service development and staff consultation on matters related to student mental health.
About us
The Counselling and Mental Health Support Service is a free and confidential service that provides highly specialised counselling, mental health support and advice to King's College London students. Students are often in distress and require sensitive and timely access to psychological and mental health support. The service is a key part of the university's wider wellbeing and safeguarding structures and works collaboratively across departments and services to ensure that students receive timely and effective support.
The service sits within the Students and Education Directorate, a collection of professional services that support King's students and their education. The Directorate manages the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, seeking a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King's faculties.
Clinical interfaces

Active communication with students, referrers, family or support networks where consent and confidentiality allow, and external clinical teams is central to safe and effective care.
